Who's behind ReCoMaP?

The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) was the Contracting Authority of the 9th European Development Fund (EDF) for this Project, in coordination with COMESA, EAC and IGAD.

The Regional Coordination Unit (RCU), based in Mauritius, at the IOC headquarters, was responsible for the technical and administrative implementation of ReCoMaP's activities.

A Regional Steering Committee, which met at least twice a year, was responsible for the regulation and overall guidance of the Programme's interventions.

In each focus country, the Programme laid under the responsibility of the parent ministry responsible for environment and fisheries. A National Focal Point coordinated the implementation of activities with the help of an ICZM Officer.

The Delegation of the European Commission in Mauritius, which is also responsible for the Seychelles and the Comoros, was responsible for monitoring the implementation.

The Budget and Calendar

The programme had a funding of 18 Million Euros from the 9th EDF and was implemented over five years from 2006 to 2011.
