The overall objective of the project was to enhance sustainable management and conservation of marine and coastal resources thereby contributing to poverty alleviation amongst the coastal population of the Western Indian Ocean (WIO).

The specific objective of ReCoMaP was to strengthen the capacity of all stakeholders (local communities, public and private bodies) in order to achieve a sustainable integrated coastal zone management.
