ReCoMaP : Regional Programme for the Sustainable Management of the Coastal Zones of the Countries of the Indian Ocean

The Expected Results

Result 1: Enhanced monitoring, conservation, valorisation & sustainable management of marine and coastal biodiversity & natural resources of the South West Indian Ocean.

 

Result 2: Training capacity for coastal and marine technicians are developed and adapted through Regional Centres of Excellence.

 

Result 3: Strengthened sensitisation on Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) issues amongst decision makers, the private sector, NGOs and the civil society.

 

Result 4: National ICZM plans are drafted and adopted and related national ICZM action plans are made available.

 

Result 5: Improved capability of focus countries to adopt a proactive position on marine and coastal resources in multilateral negotiations and of reporting on multilateral environment agreements (MEAs).

 

Result 6: Active involvement of non-state actors (NSAs) in implementing integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) action plans. These action plans are conceived by the NSAs and funded by ReCoMaP.

 

Result 7: Regional policy consensus on sustainable management of the coastal zones is improved and exchange of information and experience on marine & coastal resources is enhanced at the regional level.
