Information and Sensitisation of NSAs on the CFP Scheme

ReCoMaP Result Area 6

The Call for Proposals (CFP) scheme is a competitive funding mechanism open to NSAs in the South West region of the Indian Ocean. This is why after the launching of the 2 Call for Proposals in 2007 and 2008, sustained information and sensitisation campaigns were held to reach out the maximum of potential beneficiaries who could be interested to take part in this competition.

Consequently, 503 Concept Notes were submitted by NSAs in response to the first CFP compared to 352 Concept Notes submitted for the second CFP. Just as for the Full Proposals, the Concept Notes were also prepared following instructions contained within the guidelines, which were widely spread in the 7 countries eligible to be funded by ReCoMaP.

As the selected and granted projects from the 2 CFPs are currently being implemented, information and sensitisation activities are now focused on visibility, communication and exchange of experiences between the beneficiaries. In this line:

  • A documentary film showing projects related to the fight against coastal erosion is actually being shot in Comoros and Tanzania. It will be distributed in the form of a DVD as from May 2010.

  • A workshop was held in Chindini, Comoros in November 2009 to exchange experiences on the execution community-based infrastructure projects.

  • A workshop for exchange of experiences on the management of community-based mariculture projects in Tanzania will be organised in March 2010.
